Parasites, host specificity and
speciation
In
the frame of my phd research I study genetic structure of populations of
several model parasite species in order to reveal the processes, which take part
in the speciation of parasite species (e.g. population history and dynamics,
geography and affiliation of various strains to particular hosts).
Two species were chosen as model organisms:
· endoparasite - flatworm Ligula
intestinalis
·
ectoparasite - lice of genus Hoplopleura and Polyplax
