Welcome to Zdenek Fric's page!

First, some basic info about me.

In 2006, I finished PhD study at Department of Zoology , School of Biolocical Sciences, University of South Bohemia in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic. Now I am employed at Department of Ecology and Conservation, Institute of Entomology, and partially also at Institute of Systems Biology, both are covered by Czech Academy of Sciences.

My primary academic interest in science is the science of entomology. To specify it somehow, I am a butterfly ecology freak. In the year 2000, I had spent several months in Germany, as a visiting student in the lab of Professor Josef Settele in Umweltforschungszentrum Leipzig-Halle. I am also a member of the conservation trust Gabreta, which focuses its activities to biological surveys of former "iron curtain" restricted access zone in the area between the town Vyšší Brod and the Lipno reservoir.

I have believed for long that I would not create any personal homepage, but sheer curiosity gradually took over my laziness. I also hesitated a bit what to post here, and so the content is rather standard one: biography, a list of publications, and a brief overview of my other interests. If you want to contact me, do not hesitate to activate the e-mail address. And because not all of you are entomology freaks, I included here some pictures of my favourite animals, and some perhaps useful links .
